Does my T know who I am ?

No - it doesn't. It has no concept whatsoever that you are its keeper, that you are looking after it, or even that you mean it no harm.

It recognizes you only as a series of very heavy vibrations, inidicating to it that you are huge and a potential threat, and as a disturbance to its to its world, and home, which is often exactly what you are doing while you are 'keeping'.

Now this is not to say that they live in mortal fear of us entering the room, but they simply do not know what is heading in their direction.

Which is why good keepers move slowly and gently everywhere in the room, preferably without shoes on, to minimize their blundering footsteps ! Interact with your spiders in the least intrusive manner possible, and pick up their terrariums only when absolutely essential.

Be aware that your spider lives completely in the now, and doesn't know that when you come to feed it

a) that it is you that is coming, and b) that food is about to arrive.

So it is a good idea to never assume that you are somehow 'at one with' or 'connected' to your spider, as this is not the case. The connection is one way. Don't take liberties with spiders you think you know, and understand, because the feeling is most definitely not mutual.

In opposition to this, is the fact that spiders do learn from experience. Slings that have run on to your hand several times may not then automatically associate your hand, sorry, a hand, with danger, and may even come to like it, presumably for its warmth, rather than any affection for its keeper. Spider's do not do affection.

I am NOT, however, recommending handling, unless the spider makes the express decision to try, and needs no persuasion from you at all to come and explore, and that, of course, you are also completely at ease and comfortable with the situation.
