Temporarily sitting inside the enclosure used to recapture her after her recent escape adventure, I thought I'd try and feed my little irminia while she was somewhere where I can easily monitor her. I found the smallest pinhead cricket I could, and introduced it, and this is what happened...

 
As we can see, no luck for her today. Spiders do not automatically know exactly what to do to catch prey, specially prey that is on the outside of their tackleable limits, as this pinhead was. I have fed her since, in her new enclosure, and as soon as the cricket went in, it was jumped on quickly and immediately, and didn't get away that time... they do learn very fast.
 
Other things to be observed here are the typical 'tarantula crawl', as she explores and tries to find the cricket, and also the ubiquitous 'tarantula pauses' that regularly interrupt everything they do...
