Trying to move young Tenebrus into her new tank is proving a nightmare. I've been trying for about 2 weeks now to think of ingenious methods of moving her 'stresslessly' from one house to another. Here is my latest plan, failing spectacularly. I have gone for the 'tank-in-tank' plan and have placed her old house inside her new one, and removed the lid allowing what you'd think would be an easy escape route. This, lets remember, is the spider that escaped its first house within 20 minutes of first being introduced to it, so I didn't imagine I'd be having problems like this ! The quality of the video is horrible, for which I apologize, but it is showing a rather exciting moment as this is the first time in 3 days that the spider has even left her web and tried see what is beyond it.
So - she gets right to the edge, then can only feel air, and goes quietly back into her old tank. The next stage, then, will be to pop some leaves in that bridge the gap straight into the section of bamboo tube you can see here I have set up as her new burrow. Research suggests she should instantly choose it as the ideal location ! Just not yet, apparently... |
