It's another rare moment captured for our enjoyment by the ever helpful night vision cams that watch over my spiders...

This time, young 'Legz', a rapidly growing 7th instar P. fasciata has decided to move home slightly to the left of the bamboo tube she used to live in. I surmise that this is because she wants to be nearer the heat mat in the UK's rubbish winter temperatures (can go as low as 62F in the spider room).  So, here she is, spinning a rather impressive web adjoining her bit  of tubing. Not often we see a spider this large supporting its entire weight on webbing it has only just produced...

And then there's the fall - remarkable in that it almost never happens with this species of spider. Fortunately, she saves herself with one leg that hangs on, and quickly recovers her poise and stops for a rest before carrying on...

 What a fantastic spider !
