Well amazingly, the unrepeatable 'spider poo action' of last time has been.. er... repeated ! It seems I have my web cams pointed in all the right directions recently ! Here we have a double whammy of spider-based excellence for your delectation. Sadly I missed her emergence from the burrow, and only started recording once I realised she was taking out the rubbish, which is clever enough, I think you'll agree ! But little did I know I was in for another surprise as she aimed her little behind almost directly at the camera, and did some more directional 'unloading'. Lucky us, hey ?!
But there is yet a third interesting angle to this video clip (apart from the sound and titles) - the 'burrow' she has been leaving these last few days, for those that have been following the case online, is, in fact her old tank, which has been relocated inside the new one for about 2 weeks now. Previously, I had been waiting for her to abandon her old home, and 'move out', but the spider had other ideas, and is perfectly content in her old home in its new location ! So much so, in fact, that we can see she has now webbed right up to the circular hole (the only remaining access I had to that tank, and its water dish / previous moults etc), and has already started taking out the trash ! My original plan was to watch carefully, then block her entrance to the old tank the very second she left it completely, but as we can see, instead of doing this, I was busy trying to record it for you all, so missed the chance. Having spent a couple of days watching what is really a very content little spider mooching about, and doing its thing, I have since changed my plans, and convinced as I am that the spider has access to water, and knows where the exit is, I'm comfortable that she will move out when she is good and ready, and I can wait. The challenge now will be removing the old tank before she webs it into the new one ! And that's another exciting video report, and indeed another crickety-shaped treat wrapped up. In case anyone was wondering, the soundtrack is being borrowed from the monumental Ronny Jordan's version of Take 5. I do hope he doesn't mind ! |
