Who writes and runs this site?

I do ! My name is Jay, and I'm a 33rd old musician, songwriter, and web desginer who has a healthy obsession with large, hairy, spiders, and a need to share their amazingness with anyone that will listen.

I have been keeping tarantulas for only 3 years or so, but have used that time well, gaining experience, and I have conducted exhaustive and extensive research about the animals I look after, and the species as a whole.

I am NOT a spider expert, nor do I claim to be 100% correct with all of my information - a lot of my observations are just that - the result of some experience and discussion / debate in spider keeping, and subject to my own opinions, and ideas.  Few statements can be categorically described as 'fact'. The truth is, generally, we know far too little about these spiders, and most of what we report is conjecture, speculation, or even an educated guess in some circumstances. However, it is relatively informed conjecture, and therefore has its uses for new spider keepers, or those interested in learning more.

I am a member of the British Tarantula Society, and several international spider discussion forums.

If you are remotely interested in what I get up to when not looking after, writing about, or watching spiders, then click here to listen to my kickin' rock band, Spherics, here to listen to my ambient jazz exploration project, here to listen to the best function band available for hire in the UK, and here to check out the website of Spherics multimedia, who are the people you want to see if you need a cutting-edge website, audio production, custom soundtrack composition, hosting, domain registration, and whole lot more ! Sometimes I sleep, too.
