Hi everyone...

Today we have a little treat for you all... some VIDEO ! If you are on a slow connection, please be patient while it loads, and read on !

 

 

Being, as I am, vaguely technically minded, I now have 3 infra red video cams now trained on my girls 24 hours a day. As if it wasn't wonderful enough that IR means we can all see in total darkness, I've also got it rigged to some motion detection software that records the little beasties only when they are moving...

So, in the first of the spider 'video-casts', we can now observe Ginny (Costa Rican Zebra T with an escape complex, for those of you who might have forgotten) doing some 'web action' (no pun intended). 

I've been watching her all evening, and she's been gathering up all her existing webbing, rolling it all into a little ball, and burying it - but thats another clip for another time. For now, we join her as she starts re-webbing the tank, so she's got a nice surface to chill on tomorrow. Look at her little spinnerets doing their amazing thing !

In addition to the video, Ive attached some still photos from the same cameras, so there's a random selection - not up to my normal photography standard, I'm afraid, but very much 'as is'...

 

 

As far as general news goes, little Binky is now eating 2 adult crickets at a time, both of them bigger than she is, but does that put her off ? Nope...

Ginnevra is being very bad at the mo, and keeps filling in the water bowl as soon as I re-fill it (see video)

And Zebs is being very Zebs - not doing alot, but still eating well. i have some treats on order for her arriving soon - i've got her a surinam hissing cockroach, and 3 giant flying locusts for her delectation soon, which she will appreciate much more than crickets, which are really too small for her to bother with these days...
